The OEMHS (Old Etonian Mental Health Society) presently consists of four committee members.
Dr Jonathan Iliff (MJLB, JDN 11) is an NHS doctor currently working on the front line as a psychiatrist for The Maudsley Hospital. He also has a first class degree in neuroscience. Fredi Beard (JDN 14) is a director of Voicebox Theatre which focuses on, among other things, men’s mental health as well as a host of associated social issues. Johnny Morgan (RHP, ROQ 82) tree surgeon and landscape gardener. Charlie Mortimer (CNCA 69) writer, contemporary art collector and director of Jamb Ltd.
The OEMHS was created some five years ago and now boasts a healthy membership of OEs.
The primary purpose of the society is to create a point of contact together with a welcoming and informative forum for any OE or their family members interested in mental health and its ramifications or those who may be struggling with a mental health issue. The society aims to inform, as best and as pragmatically as we can OE’s and Etonians on how to spot and address mental health issues and where to go for help. Left to their own devices mental health problems can often become mental illness.
